And I attempt blogging a second time...

The first blog I made lasted one post. I'm kind of hoping this one lasts a little longer. At least it will be more interesting. Even if no one reads it, I can use this as a place to keep track of my costume making progress!

This is my first year attending a comic con. I've always wanted to go before, but I never thought I could make my costumes look as legit as some people do (of course there are those who look like crap, but I'd rather not go if I looked like that). But I've taken up constructing costumes and I absolutely love it so therefore, I'll be at NY Comic Con on the 8th and 9th. I haven't really started my costume for the 8th. It's really just going to be a quick one to do. I decided on a rather sexy version of Marill. The boyfriend decided on being the spoon guy from this video. He's ecstatic about hitting people with spoons all day. Can't say I blame him!

The 9th is where I'm putting more of my skills to work. I'm going as Alice from American Mcgee's Alice. Sure, it's kind of simple but I have some doctoring to do to the dress (which hasn't come in yet). But my boyfriend is going to be the Mad Hatter from the same game. The shirt is in the final stages and the hat was finished over a year ago (did I mention I'm obsessed with this game?). I am going to be making a latex mask for it but I haven't been able to start that either because the clay I ordered a week ago hasn't come in! Oh, how I wish shipments arrived sooner. It's supposed to be here tomorrow so better late than never.

On top of those few projects, I've got halloween costumes going as well. I like to stick to a theme every year and this year we are doing The Nightmare Before Christmas. It's overdone yes, but we aren't being Jack and Sally. Boyfriend is being Oogie Boogie. I know he will love walking around as a giant sack. My sister will be Lock, her best friend will be Barrel, and I will be going as Shock. All four of these costumes fall to me to make and Halloween is only a few weeks away! At least, I have some of that started. Shock's mask is waiting to have more ultracal applied to it before I pry it off of the armature (this mask will be latex as well). Barrel's mask just needs some teeth before I begin sanding and painting it. I decided to make Barrel's out of plaster because I felt latex wouldn't hold the circular shape. I'll throw some pictures up later.

I know no one follows this yet, but maybe one day people will so I just want to add-if anyone wants a mask made for them, I will make custom masks. Just need to pay for them =)
